John Tucker

Nationals for Lyons

Tasmania needs change, but not the sort of change that would undermine our key industries and put thousands of jobs at risk.

The Nationals offer change for the better.  Our pledge is to balance the budget, bench the stadium and fix the basics like health, education, housing, transport and other services.

The Nationals are a party of Government, not a protest party.  Unlike the Greens, we want to build our regional industries, not tear them down.

Liberal and Labor governments have failed regional Tasmania over decades.  The major parties’ Hobart focus means country areas are being left behind.

The Nationals have a strong record of putting communities first.  We want to make  regional Tasmania the driver for a brighter future for the whole state.

That starts with listening.  We will not ignore the communities who have shown repeatedly that while they support an AFL team, they do not want to spend a billion dollars on the Macquarie Point stadium.

“I will stand up for the wants and needs of everyone across Lyons.”

The Tasmanian Nationals will

Support regional communities and end the drift of services to the cities.

Support the state’s agriculture, forestry, fishing, salmon and mining industries and their workers and the communities that rely on them.

Support small business and reward private enterprise.

Support locally trained Tasmanian based nurses and doctors

Support effective initiatives to lift Tasmania’s education results, particularly in regional areas.

Support a Tasmanian-based AFL and AFLW team but not at any cost, it’s time to bench the stadium, rethink and renegotiate the deal with the AFL.
